Concrete patio cost per square foot

Estimates from this calculator's default prices for a 4 in slab on a 4 in gravel base with wire mesh. Your local prices will differ, so change the defaults above to match quotes or supplier prices near you.

PatioBroom finishStainedStamped
10×10 (100 sq ft)$1,200–$1,750$1,350–$2,000$1,600–$2,400
12×12 (144 sq ft)$1,450–$2,200$1,700–$2,550$2,100–$3,150
10×20 (200 sq ft)$1,850–$2,750$2,150–$3,200$2,700–$4,050
20×20 (400 sq ft)$3,200–$4,850$3,850–$5,750$4,950–$7,400

Per square foot, a plain broom-finished patio comes to about $12–$18 for a 10×10 and $8–$12 for a 20×20 with these defaults. Small patios cost more per square foot because setup, forming and the ready-mix short-load fee are spread over less concrete.

How much does a 10x20 concrete patio cost?

A 10×20 ft patio is 200 sq ft. At 4 in thick with 10% extra, it takes about 2.72 cubic yards of concrete, ordered as 2.75 yards. With these defaults it costs about $1,850–$2,750 installed. Materials are about $1,018 of that: $618 for ready-mix including a $150 short-load fee, $256 for 4.5 tons of base gravel delivered, $85 for forms and $60 for wire mesh. Labor is about 18 worker hours.

How much does a 12x12 concrete patio cost?

A 12×12 patio (144 sq ft) comes to about $1,450–$2,200 with a broom finish, or $10–$15 per sq ft. It needs just under 2 cubic yards. That's too much to mix from bags comfortably, so the estimate uses ready-mix and its short-load fee.

Stamped concrete patio cost

Stamping adds color, release agent and sealer, about $1.50 per sq ft by default, and a lot of finishing labor: a stamping crew has to work the whole slab before it sets. A 20×20 stamped patio runs about $4,950–$7,400 here, against $3,200–$4,850 for broom finish. Staining a plain slab is the cheaper way to add color: about $3,850–$5,750 for the same 20×20 patio.

What changes the price

How this estimate works

Concrete is figured the way our concrete calculator does it: area × thickness plus 10% for spillage and an uneven base, ordered in quarter yards at $170 per cubic yard, with a $150 short-load fee under 6 yards. Pours under 1 cubic yard use 80 lb bags at $6.50 (0.6 cu ft each). The 4 in crusher-run base adds 15% for compaction at 1.5 tons per cubic yard, $38 a ton plus $85 delivery. Forms and stakes are $1.50 per foot of edge, figured as if the patio were square. Wire mesh is $0.30 per sq ft and rebar $1. The contractor's markup on materials is 20%. Labor is 4 hours of setup plus 7 worker hours per 100 sq ft to dig, base, form, pour and finish, billed at $60 an hour including the contractor's overhead and profit. Stamping adds 0.06 hours per sq ft and staining 0.02. The range is the result minus 20% to plus 20%. Change any of these above. Homewyse puts a basic concrete patio at $10.30–$12.64 per sq ft nationally (May 2026), not counting excavation or a gravel base; our default 10×20 patio, which includes both, comes to about $12 per sq ft at the middle of its range.

Getting quotes

Get at least three quotes for the same size, thickness, base depth, reinforcement and finish. Ask whether they'll cut control joints, seal the slab and haul away the dirt they dig out. If a quote is far below this estimate, ask what's left out.
